I'm about to find out if you can make money online!

Head down … tail up …

Well, I have been quiet here because I am in the middle of a big task that I mentioned the other day:

I have identified some potential keyword sets (e.g. business financing) and am now doing the hard slog of going through EACH of the top two pages of Google search results (that’s 20 web-sites) for EACH keywords set (and, I must have at least 20 keyword sets) … that’s hundreds of web-pages.

Fortunately, I just need to do a quick visual scan of each site that comes up (sometimes just looking at the Google summary that they provide as part of their search result is sufficient to tell me what the site is about) for each keyword/phrase (I call this a ‘keyword set’) and list the number of:

1. Free Offerings that directly compete with what I want to sell (e.g. if I want to sell an e-Book and somebody is giving away a few e-Book – or even an online article or two – on the same subject matter … it’s a bummer, if I come up with too many of these; I pretty much then know that I won’t be able to use that keyword);

2. Direct Competitors (e.g. is somebody else selling something similar to what I’m selling … not as bad, but you are still now competing instead of being in that ideal ‘virgin territory’ where everybody else is trying to sell, say, insurance and you are the only one giving away free useful information!)

3. Indirect Competitors (e.g. somebody else offering services related to your product e.g. you are selling an e-Book on sewing, but somebody else is selling a class on sewing, or a ’sewing made easy’ kit).

Clearly, you will be leaning towards the keywords that have SOME traffic and LITTLE TO NO competition …

… we’ll see how this pans out in a few days.

THEN, I have another trick (that comes from starting with a blog, as I recommended) for you ;)
