Well, I finished watching my tutorial and received some interesting comments from people about products that I might consider. I’ll look at products a little later, but here is what I think I need:
1. A ’sales’ site to promote and distribute the product (need a ’sales letter’ and a ’shopping cart’, etc.); I think that BeBiz might be a good product for this, but looks bloody expensive (nearly $50 a month), and
2. A separate ‘content’ site to attract interested people, then subtly direct them to my sales web-site; since I refuse to use my blogs to directly promote/advertise anything this will need to be a separate site – and probably a separate product; I think that Site Build It! would be ideal for this, but it is also reasonably expensive (at least a couple of hundred a year, from memory, or maybe even as much as BeBiz), and
3. A product!
Hell, what am I doing even looking at web-sites etc. before I have a product?!
In fact, my 13 y.o. son, and mentor on all things Internet, says that I need a BUNCH of products (at least 4).
So, here are my initial thoughts, because I am flying here without any real plan:
I am writing a bunch of content on my blogs; sure I give it away free, but it comes in a disorganized fashion … any topic that seems ‘right’ to cover on a given day, I cover.
The simple way to create a product is to start with a blog on the topic of your choice – preferably one that you have some expertise in
– write some posts … get them out there … take on board feedback … write some more posts refining your thoughts, and wacko presto: you have valuable content!
I think that I already have enough ‘valuable content’ (i.e. posts) on my blogs to create at least one simple, introductory e-Book. It will be valuable to people who want to see something structured rather than the mashup on my blogs …
… and, the target audience will be anybody who does not yet read my blogs (that would be 99.9999999% of the billions of Internet users around the world).
In fact, I won’t even be advertising this e-Book on my blogs.
So, now that I know that I need a product first (d’oh) I have already started making one, simply using:
- A nice ‘newsletter’ template from MS Word, and
- a bit of cutting/pasting/editing from my main blog.
And, up the top is how the front cover already looks …
BTW: I have just registered a new domain name, one that will eventually be the domain for the ’sales’ web-site (I hope that Go-Daddy lets me transfer it):
“Repeat Until Rich”
… it came to me the other day, as I am always talking about systems for creating wealth; you know, stuff that once you start doing it, you can just ‘repeat until rich’
